First Impression
So been trying out last epoch the past few days and I gotta say its pretty fun!
I have been trying out the Sentinel and Acolyte up to currently level 20 both of them and i gotta say i have had alot of fun just casually going through the questline and killing alot of enemies!
The first thing i noticed as i got into the game was the fact that it was very dense in monster population, it looked very calm but i took a few steps out and from nowhere came enemies from the skies!
First glance at the character creation made me wanna take a closer look at the Alolyte, who is very twitchy on the character selection screen and also the 3 masteries caught my attention but i felt oddly drawn towards one specific mastery so into the world to figure out all what it had to offer!
Classes
So yes i have as stated only tried out Sentinel and Acolyte, but i can already tell i was gonna have alot of fun from the first moment of throwing out the skills and just get a feel for the classes itself!
The Acolyte is a sorcerer type character wich speciallizes in necromatic and shamanesqe magic. The 3 Masteries for Acolyte is:
- Necromancer
- Lich
- Warlock
All with their own special type of passive skill trees together with their proper skill trees!

One of the most fun skills i have been using on Acolyte / Necromancer is the skill called:
– Hungering Souls, wich is litterly just you throwing out souls to do damage to enemies and it just feels so fun to do!
Sentinel on the other hand is very different from the Acolyte but i have pretty much equally fun on it as i have on the Acolyte!
The sentinel is a warrior type of character with 3 branching masteries aswell:
- Void Knight
- Forge Guard
- Paladin
The one i picked for my first test is the Forge Guard wich focuses on the creation of weapons! That caught my eye so i decided to try it out!
I havent reached the appropriate level yet to use the skill i really am intrigued to use called:
Manifest Armor – wich is a skill wich lets you summon a living armor who attacks for you! and together with the skill Forge Strike and Rive there will be no shortage of weapons flying around this character!
The Sentinels skill tree look like this:

The World
The world in Last Epoch is large and have alot to offer, both in terms of detail aswell as intriguing backgrounds (Take a closer look at the background on some of the maps and you might notice something moving in the shadows).
The map is very simple to understand, and you can always find the quest icon to tell you where you need to go incase you forget
Side Quest icon:

Main Quest icon:

The world surrounds different Eras of the history of the world of Eterra, but why has the void taken hold of the world and why is it spreading? Well that is the quest your on to find out!
NPCs
You will meet a myriad of various NPCs and all with different personalities and quests they need help with, as the story progress you will learn more from some of the more prominent NPCs that makes up the world.
Most of the NPCs that i have engaged with have all been properly voiced and sometimes it feels eerie how well the voice the NPC have fit the character!
So far as i have played i have only been in contact with NPCs i quite francly like, and i guess i will meet more as i keep playing through the story!
Is it worth picking the game up?
At first glance i was about to compare it to Path of Exile and yes they have alot of simularities but they are very different on quite a few levels.
As i played through the first character i had alot of fun just checking out skills and finding various weapons with effixes i needed, aswell as try to find those legendary equipment that is saught after!
But as i started my second character i noticed quite fast that i already knew the path to the various locations, the maps were the same they didnt really change, but did this make me have less fun? NOPE i still had fun using the skills and explore how the most destructive way would be for me to dish out as much damage as i can!
Is it a game i see me playing over and over day in and day out?
No not really but i see the game as a game i will return to on and off as new cycles (Leagues) come around just to try out the balances they done to the classes and see in what way they changed the skills!
But once again is Last Epoch worth picking up and buying?
Yes if you are a fan of the ARPG genre of game this is a good game to pick up and try and explore the multiple ways you can build your character!
